Haematex R&D - year in review

Our think tank is always in tune with the latest trends and developments in coagulation diagnostics, implementing efficiency through new ideas and products. In 2023 we continued work on improving DOAC removal techniques from samples and experimenting with alternatives to the dRVVT.

Several papers in progress strengthen Haematex as a centre for innovative ideas and thinking. We’re trying hard to overcome the misconception that DOACs in a patient sample make it unsuitable for coagulation testing. To add to our collection, a recent paper by Chiara Novelli et al from Milan based on 165 patient plasmas being tested for lupus anticoagulant +/- DOACs concluded that “DOAC-Stop™ can be used in daily practice to remove DOAC interference for a more accurate assessment of LA that is essential for diagnostics and management of APS patients.” Blood Coagulation & Fibrinolysis 34(3):p 199-205, April 2023. Closer to home, a recent paper by Julie Wang and colleagues at Northern Health and University of Melbourne showed that “DOAC-Stop™ can remove direct oral anticoagulants to allow analysis by global coagulation assays.” Int J Lab Hematol. 2023; 45(3): 360-367.

Over in France, our colleagues at Hyphen Biomed have moved many of their products inline with the new EU IVDR regulations, benefitting us with improved barcoding and temperature in transit alert systems - combining to provide a better Hyphen Biomed product for our Australian customers.

2024 prices – order before Monday 11th Dec to lock in 2023 delivery

Hyphen Biomed are implementing a 5% price rise from 1st January 2024, we are reluctantly passing this on to cover our increased transfer prices.
